Introducing our Commercial Craft Team

Introducing our Commercial Craft Team

Coleman Marine Insurance, a Gallagher Company, is not only well-placed at its office on Poole Quay but also in terms of its capability to source insurance solutions for a wide range of commercial craft, from fishing and charter boats to large passenger ferries and tugs.

Products range from single ‘packaged’ policies for Hull and Liabilities through to larger and more complex insurance programmes to meet Hull and Protection & Indemnity needs.

Our specialist knowledge shines through when we are dealing with our commercial clients as we know how important it is to provide protection for those who rely on their vessels to provide a livelihood. With this in mind, we provide a 24/7 in-house claims response to assist our clients throughout the claims process. Our claims team understands how important it is for commercial vessel operators to get back on the water and will pull out all the stops to help.

Coleman Marine Insurance, a Gallagher Company, places great value on the many relationships it has nurtured over the years and is dedicated to maintaining these relationships.

Recent months have brought so many challenges to the commercial craft sector, especially to clients who operate passenger vessels and have seen their income fall. As an insurance broker, we have been quick to response to these challenges by modifying covers to help clients reduce costs during these difficult times.

A good example of a long-standing relationship is  the one we have with the Professional Boatman’s Association (PBA) – a membership body of over 150 UK-wide charter boat operators who work together as one body to manage a range of issues that affect their sector. Over the years, Coleman Marine Insurance, a Gallagher Company,  has supported the PBA’s AGM at various locations (including the RNLI College in Poole and the Boat Building Academy in Lyme Regis) and has formulated a bespoke insurance package for PBA members which offers a wide range of covers and benefits.

Phil Higgins, Chair of the PBA  and Skipper of ‘Mistress Linda’ has summed up our relationship nicely in providing the following words:-

'The Professional Boatman’s Association feel privileged to have the support of Coleman Marine Insurance, a Gallagher Company. Together we have forged a strong partnership working through specific industry challenges and thanks to the work carried out by Dee, Tony and Steve we now have a tailored insurance policy for the charter boat industry.

The support they offer includes sponsoring our AGM in which the afternoon is dedicated to guest speakers from associated marine industries and the latest insurance updates, this year was our 1st all-inclusive online AGM in which all members could take part it was a success. Over the last few years the support Coleman’s offer has turned into a great friendship with all our members they feel that should something happen the phone call is made much easier by this good working relationship and often call for general  advice on their businesses.

As Chairman, it has certainly made my role more pleasurable knowing my members are looked after and being able to pop in for a coffee to discuss new ideas. Thank you, Coleman Marine Insurance, a Gallagher Company,.’’
